  Two students in  Mrs.Wolff''s third class decided to write a comic. We, at the Meadow Hill GEMS Informer Blog decided to interview them. Here are a few things we got to ask them.

   K and S: "What inspired you to write a comic?"

   Kids: " I wanted to write because I like cartoon animations, we like making little kids laugh, and we want to be artists when we grow up."

   K and S: "What are your names?"

   Kids:" Jeremiah M and Diwon W."

   K and S: "How old are you?"

   Kids:" Jeremiah is 8 and Diwon is 9."

   K and S:" Are any of your peers used in your comic?"

   Kids:" Yes, we used Amora, Leo, Makiaya, Arianna, Carmine, Chinesya, and Kennedy in our comic.

   K and S:" Do you think your comic is like a book?"

   Kids:" Yes, we feel our comic is like a book."

   K and S:" What is the setting of the comic?"

   Kids:" The comic takes place in a secret Lair."

   K and S:" What is your book about?"

   Kids:" Our book is about chasing down aliens to protect our school and along the way we make super juice which we drink and it gives us super powers."

   K and S:" What comic inspired you to write a comic of your own?"

   Kids:" Well we love reading " Captain Underpants" so it was easy to come up with ideas based on that comic."

   K and S:" Do you feel kids will enjoy reading your comic?"

   Kids:" Yes, because we had fun writing it so we feel kids will have fun reading it.  Writing is a way to express yourself  so never be afraid to let your creativity show."

* Jeremiah and Diwon are actually starting a new comic today.

Special PTO Event by Josue M

  A few days ago, the Meadow Hill School PTO had an event at Pat Tarsio Lanes. The PTO paid for our bowling time and that was very kind of them. The PTO also had many raffles for many cool and creative prizes. Everybody had a great time at the bowling alley and I'm sure the PTO did too. Thank you PTO for a wonderful time at Pat Tarsio Lanes and for any future events  you have planned for us.

Homeless people get gifts for Christmas

In order to make sure every family was able to celebrate Christmas, some students and staff members provided various items for some poor people. The people who helped were Mrs. Wolff, Mrs. Howe, Mrs. Pileggi, Mrs. Morales, Mrs Keenan,  Mrs. Altu, students, Jake Wolff, Derek Leiter, Mikayla Piliggi,  John Schwarcbeck and MHS staff. This is what was provided:

1. The food that was brought was hot chocolate, bread, ham, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, biscuits, apples, granola bars, candy, drink mix, celery and chips.

The family consisted of a mother, a 12 year old girl and a 7 year old girl. Many gifts were provided such as toys, clothes, shoes, jewelry, makeup, perfume, and gift card for food. One bag of gifts was provided for the mother to label for her kids in order to make her feel proud.

Mrs Wolff commented on the subject by stating the following:

"I think personally giving the gifts was the best part of our Christmas. It feels good to get things but it feels even better to give things. It made me sad to know that these girls would have nothing for Christmas. The little girl only had one book and it made her so happy."

Mrs Wolff=food
Keenan=gifts they secretly wanted
Mikayla=donated Christmas tree
Jake=gave toys

Children got to see how fortunate they were to have a lot of toys. Kids showed great compassion for their fellow classmates which show the true meaning of christmas. Mrs Wolff has a way of speaking to the children and helping them understand the true meaning of Christmas.

Interview with Ms. Schor by Jackson Y. & Katherine S.

Today we'll be interviewing Ms. Schor an ENL Teacher at Meadow Hill School.

   What was your first job?

   Ms. Schor: I worked at McDonald's when I was 16 years old. I remember making french fries. I didn't like it but I learned a lot.

   How long have you been teaching?

   Ms. Schor: I've been teaching since 1993, so that's like 23 years.

   What inspired you to teach?

   Ms. Schor: My love of languages. I used to teach French, German even some Spanish. Not much though. But now I teach English and that's a lot of fun.

   What grades do you teach?

   Ms. Schor: I currently teach grades 3-5.

   Why do you enjoy teaching?

    Ms. Schor: It allows me to use what I love and have other people hopefully love it too. And that thing I love is language and literacy. That's why I've created space in the cafeteria for kids to read words and poems and rhymes and to inspire them to create their own.

 (If any students want to have their poetry published in the cafeteria go see Ms. Schor [room 16])

Teachers save students from MH Bomb threat

On the date 01-04-16 a stranger called Meadow Hill stating that a bomb was located in the school. The heroic teachers and principal along with the assistant principals alerted the students and evacuated the building. The students remained at Temple Hill School for safety reasons. The teachers on the buses calmed and informed the students about the bomb threat. The teachers, principals and students all worked as a team, and stood together as a family.  Here is a little message to the teachers and all the staff members.  Thank you for keeping us safe :)

4th grade selling carnations Feb. 12 for Valentine's Day

Fourth grade is selling carnations on February 12 for Valentine's Day. Buy a carnation for a friend, mom, or dad. So go to Mrs. Dickson and Ms. Noll's class to buy a colorful flower. Plus, it would help the fourth grade to save up for a field trip!

LET'S GIVE BACK by Katherine and Sarai

We love to read at MHS. To show we love to read we sent two of our bloggers to read to Ms. Short and Mrs. DePace's kindergarten classes. Our blogger Sarai read "Now I know what makes the weather." Sarai read about weather to the classes. The little kids really loved her story. At the end they even clapped for her. Our other blogger K.A also read about the weather to the same classes. K.A read "City Storm by Mary Jessie Parker and illustrated by Lynne Dennis."  The teacher Ms. Short was actually Sarai and K.A's 4th grade teacher. The kids really loved these stories. We at MHS really enjoy taking a good look in a book.
